When Shahid upset SRK

Sharing the stage with Shah Rukh Khan can be unnerving for any one and when you manage to miff King Khan at the same time, he knows how to shut you up, literally!
At a recent award function, Khan managed to hog all the limelight while co-host Shahid Kapoor played a mere spectator. Why did SRK
shut Shahid up? Because Shahid did not turn up for the rehearsals for the award ceremony which irritated SRK to no ends, Mumbai Mirror reported.
A source told the tabloid, "Shahid did not come the previous night for the grand rehearsal and SRK was the only one to do it. Even on Thursday, the day of the show, Shahid arrived a couple of hours before the show was to start."
SRKThis left SRK, who was present for all the rehearsals, very upset with Shahid's behaviour. It is believed that SRK thought that Shahid was being pompous and over confident.
So, on the day of the ceremony, Shahid barely spoke few syllables while SRK was at his wittiest best and spoke non-stop for more than 45 mins in an hour segment.
It is believed that Shahid couldn't make it for the grand rehearsals because he missed his flight from Chandigarh. "When Shahid reached for the rehearsals the night before, SRK had already left, as it was very late. SRK came earlier the next day in order to rehearse with Shahid but on that day Shahid had to work on his individual act, so he hardly had any time for his combined act with SRK."
However, buzz is that SRK called Shahid to his van and asked him to work on his individual act and assured him that he will take care of the combined act.

I don't produce films to make money: Akshay Kumar

Mumbai, Jan 9 (IANS) Actor-producer Akshay Kumar, who sounded a bit guarded about the fate of his forthcoming film "Patiala House", Sunday said he doesn't produce films to make money.
"I don't produce films for money. I make those films, which I personally want to make. I don't know the fate of 'Patiala House' but I am very happy to be a part of it and I have enjoyed working in it. I am not worried whether I would make money from it or not," Akshay told reporters at the music launch of "Patiala House" at Whistling Woods here.
"Today, I am in a position where returns don't bother me much... I only think that what new I can offer to my audience," he added.
The actor mentioned that none of the films from his Hari Om Productions has upset him or his distributor so far commercially.
"I have produced eight films so far and none of them were unsuccessful commercially, and neither my distributors had to suffer any losses," said Akshay.
Akhay maintains that actors like him, Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan cannot venture for films like "Udaan" or "Tere Bin Laden" because high box office returns are expected from their films.
"I have seen the business of these kinds of films. I go and watch every film; I understand what the audience wants. When a person like me or Shah Rukh or Salman do a film, we have to collect a certain amount of money in the box office so that the distributors and exhibitors get their money back."
"So we cannot do this kind of films because there is a very niche audience for such kind of cinema. These films make a maximum of Rs.8 crore. Commercial cinema makes business of Rs.70 crore. Films like 'Dabaang' make Rs.140 crore. So you have to make such kind of films," said Akshay.
He however believes that in the near future, films like "Udaan" would cater to a maximum audience.
"A film like 'Udaan' has a certain kind of audience who would go and watch them. Maybe as time progress, more people would start watching these kind of films. In around four years, people would watch only this kind of cinema," said Akshay.

Aishwarya Rai still endorses L'Oreal

New Delhi, Jan 9 (IANS) Officials of cosmetic firm L'Oreal Paris have denied reports that Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai has been replaced by Frieda Pinto as the new brand ambassador.
Reports of Frieda replacing Aishwarya came up after the "Slumdog Millionaire" star featured in L'Oreal's 'Happy New Year' television commercial.
"We are shocked and surprised to read in some sections of the media/press about Ms. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan being replaced as the face of L'Oreal Paris," said an official statement from the firm.
"L'Oreal Paris strongly reiterates that this is absolutely untrue and that Ms. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan continues to be our valued spokesperson, as she has since 2000. While she remains an integral part of the L'Oreal Paris world wide Dream Team, she was unfortunately unavailable for our New Year commercial shoot due to prior commitments.
"She is one of the most iconic women of our times and is certainly the face of L'Oreal Paris internationally and in India for a range of products which include campaigns for Total Repair 5, Excellence Crème, Color Riche, Hydrafresh," the statement added.
